Clearing for Pools, Barns & Outbuildings in Charlotte, NC
The pool contractor is booked, the barn kit is ordered, or the detached garage plans are approved. Then you look at the backyard or back acreage and realize there's a stand of trees exactly where it all has to go, and no way for an excavator or delivery truck to get there.
We clear sites for pools, barns, detached garages, workshops, and sheds across Charlotte. You get the footprint plus the working room your installer needs, a clear path in for their equipment, and the trees around it left healthy.

What Our Outbuilding Site Clearing Process Is
An outbuilding site has to work for the contractor who comes after us. These four steps make sure it does.
-
01
Locate the Footprint
We mark the pool, barn, or building outline with you, using your plans or the installer's layout.
-
02
Plan the Way In
We find the best route for excavators and delivery trucks, around septic fields, irrigation, and keeper trees.
-
03
Clear Site and Path
Trees and brush come out of the footprint, the working margin, and the access route, with stumps handled to scope.
-
04
Confirm With Your Installer
We check the cleared site against what your pool builder or barn crew asked for before we leave.
Where We Serve for Outbuilding Site Clearing
We clear pool and outbuilding sites throughout Charlotte and in the surrounding towns. Those town pages are still in the works, so use the main land clearing page for now.
Getting a Backyard or Back Acre Ready for a New Structure
Pools, Barns, Garages, Workshops, and Sheds
Every one of these projects starts the same way: someone needs open, workable ground in a spot that's currently wooded or overgrown. A backyard pool in a south Charlotte neighborhood might mean removing a handful of large trees and some brush along the fence. A pole barn on the edge of the county might mean opening up a quarter acre of young pines. A detached garage or workshop usually falls somewhere in between. We size the clearing to the project, not to a standard package.
The Footprint Plus Working Room
Clearing only the exact outline of a pool or building leaves the installer no room to work. Excavators need space to swing and pile spoil, framers need room for ladders and lifts, and pool crews need space for forms and concrete. We'll ask your contractor how much margin they need around the footprint and clear to it. Getting this right the first time avoids a return trip once the installer arrives and finds the site too tight.
Access for Excavators and Delivery Trucks
On many Charlotte properties, the hardest part of a pool or outbuilding project is getting equipment to the back of the lot. Pool excavators, concrete trucks, and flatbeds carrying trusses or barn kits need a clear, firm path from the street or driveway. We look for the route that avoids septic fields, drain lines, irrigation, and buried utilities, then clear trees and overhanging limbs along it. If the only way in crosses a neighbor's line, we'll pause until you've worked out permission.
Keeping Nearby Trees Healthy
Pools and outbuildings often sit close to trees you want to keep for shade or privacy. A tree can survive having its neighbors removed and still decline if its roots are compacted by machines or cut during excavation. We keep our own equipment off the root zones of trees you're keeping and flag them so the next crew can see them too. Bear in mind that pool and footing excavation near a tree can still damage roots, so talk with your installer about how close they plan to dig.
Stumps and Debris
Stumps inside a pool or building footprint have to come out, since they'd interfere with excavation or footings. We grind or remove them as your contractor prefers. Stumps along the access path can usually be ground low. Branches and smaller material are mulched or hauled, depending on whether you want mulch spread in the wooded area nearby or a clean, open site. Open burning is heavily restricted in Mecklenburg County, so we don't burn on site.
What Comes After Clearing
Our work ends with a cleared site and an open access path. We don't do grading or site leveling. Leveling the site is handled by your pool builder, barn installer, or a grading contractor. Permits for pools, garages, and larger outbuildings come from the city or county, and HOAs often want to see plans too, so confirm requirements before the project starts.

Charlotte Pool & Outbuilding Site Clearing FAQs
How much area do you clear for an in-ground pool?
The pool outline plus the working room your pool builder needs for excavation, spoil, and forms. We'll ask your builder for their preferred margin and confirm it at the walk-through.
Can you clear a path for the pool excavator to reach my backyard?
Yes. Access is often the hardest part of a backyard pool. We plan a route around septic, irrigation, and keeper trees and clear trees and limbs along it.
Do you level the site for a barn or garage?
No. We clear and hand off. Leveling and site preparation for the structure are handled by your installer or a grading contractor.
Will removing trees near my pool site hurt the ones I keep?
We keep our equipment off the root zones of trees you're keeping. Excavation for the pool or footings can still affect nearby roots, so talk with your installer about how close they'll dig.
What happens to the stumps in the building footprint?
They're ground out or removed, depending on what your contractor wants, since stumps would get in the way of excavation or footings.
Can you clear a site for a large pole barn on acreage?
Yes. Barn sites on rural land are common for us, often along with a short access lane for delivery trucks.
Do I need a permit for a pool or outbuilding?
Pools, garages, and larger outbuildings generally need permits from the city or county, and many HOAs want to approve plans. Confirm the requirements before clearing begins.
How long does clearing for a pool or shed take?
Most pool and outbuilding sites are cleared in a day or two, depending on tree size and access. We'll schedule around your installer's start date.
Can you leave the mulch in the woods around the site?
Yes. Many owners like mulch spread in nearby wooded areas. If you'd rather have it hauled for a clean look, we'll include that in the scope.
